Desert Rose Pendant

⇻TECHNIQUE
I made this brass pendant with the metalsmith technique. Metalsmithing is the process of creating jewelry through the manipulation of various metals. These manipulations include forming and shaping, sawing, doming, foldforming, drilling, soldering, texturing, stamping and more.

I start with collecting the crystals for the piece and sketching the design. Once the sketch is ready, I saw and shape the different metal parts needed to create the design. After that the different metal parts get soldered together and the piece gets filed and sanded to make sure there are no sharp parts. After that, the gemstones can be set. To finish, the jewel gets polished for a beautiful shiny finish. To complete this whole proces it takes me about 1,5 days.

⇻MATERIALS
ᴄʀʏꜱᴛᴀʟ: A shiny Peach Moonstone crystal
ᴍᴇᴛᴀʟ: Raw golden brass. Brass is a mix of copper and zinc. It's a good quality metal and will keep its stunning warm golden colour, meaning it wont lose its color over time like many plated jewelry does. Brass does turn a bit dull when not worn for a while, but it will shine bright again once you wear it again for a day or so. Keep in mind that brass is a metal that might turn green when in contact with sweat (this depends from person to person). I use brass jewelry all year round and occasionaly it happens that my skin turns green (it doesn't happen from washing hands or showering with your jewelry on, only from contact with sweat or sunscreen on the skin.) When this happens you can wash it off easily with water and a bit of soap. Jewelry cleaning instructions and a polishing cloth are added in your package.

The pendant comes with a brass chain as shown on the photo's. The length of the chain is 56 cm. The brass chain locks with a brass clasp. For a different size chain please contact me and I will make it in the size you like it:)!
